Annual General Meeting
The 11th Annual General Meeting of the Sri Lanka – Australia
– New Zealand Business Council was held on Wednesday,
July 19, 2006 at 7.00 p.m. at the “Room Amethyst”
– Colombo Hilton, Colombo. H. E. Dr. Greg French graced
the occasion as the Chief Guest.
Office Bearers
At the Annual General Meeting of the Council held on July 19,
2006, the following were elected as Office Bearers:-

Christmas Party 2006
The 7th Annual Christmas party organized by the council was
held on Friday, December 15, 2006 at the Duke’s Court
– Trans Asia Hotel, Colombo. Members and non-members of
the council gathered to share the spirit of the season witnessing
a live band performance, entertaining games and raffle draws
and a loads and loads of fun, excitement and entertainment.
5.3 Luncheon Meeting
The Luncheon meeting of the Sri Lanka Australia New Zealand
Business Council was held on The October 31, 2006. The Guest
speaker Mr. Ismail Radwan – Senior Economist based in
the South Asia Finance and Private sector unit of the World
Bank on Economic Affairs and Secretary to the Ministry of Plan
Implementation, spoke on “Better Profits Through Ethical
Behaviour”. There was a participation of over 50 members
and non-members of the SLANZBC.
Trade Inquiries
The Council informed the members of inquiries received from
other Chambers and Organisations in Australia and New Zealand,
relating to trade between the Countries. The members were also
informed regarding the trade fairs that took place in Australia
and New Zealand.
Trade Mission
The Council organized a mission to Melbourne and Sydney in early
June last year. Then decided to visit Sydney only on the request
of its members, as Sydney was the business hub in Australia.
Finally at the request of the Honorary consulate of Sri Lanka
In Sydney the Mission was organized to take part at the “Asia
on show”, which was a meeting point of all Asian Business,
in the hub of Australia. The visit was open up to all members
and non-members of the Council. However, none of the above missions
were able to take off due to lack of participation.
